If you are a member of the public and have an emergency Dial 911 and report the incident to the local authorities. We can only be dispatched by the 911 Center.
If you are a state or local agency and need our assistance
When to call? Contact our servicing dispatch center (see below) as soon as you suspect a person needs help. Please do not wait until local efforts have failed as the time delay will make it more difficult to use specialized resources, such as search dogs and mantrackers. In addition to a request for a response, we can also be placed on standby. If the the incident is resolved by your local resources, we can be cancelled in route by contacting the E911 center. If in doubt, call us out - we'd rather be alerted and cancelled than called too late to help effect a positive outcome.

The Mountaineer Area Rescue Group is available to assist with lost person searches and wilderness rescues regardless of the weather, terrain, or time of day. MARG is also listed as a support group for cave rescues and is able to handle initial and advanced callouts over a multi-state area. For help call:

Operational Area
The Mountaineer Area Rescue Group will respond to any location within a 2 hour drive of Morgantown, West Virginia. Most of our members live in Monongalia and Preston Counties and the surrounding areas in West Virginia. We also may be available for emergencies in other areas depending on situation, travel time, and transportation.
Memoranda of Understanding
The Mountaineer Area Rescue Group has working Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) with several counties and emergency services organizations for immediate response in the event of an outdoor emergency incident.
